Will advances in technology inevitably lead to the destruction of the earth?
One of the reasons our troops are such a beating in Iraq is the technology available to terrorists. It is quite simple, effective explosives and electronic detonators to rig (activated by mobile phones, radios, etc.), how quickly technology has progressed (think back, 50 years, a blink of time in the life of the planet), it is not inevitable that more and more powerful and destructive forces will be available to more and more people, so that finally, that the destruction on a global level?
Of course, yes.It ’s inevitable. All the pollution, increased consumption, massive landfills in the world - the byproducts of technologocal ascent, is essentially this planet habitable. I would not say that in the next 20 years, but until the end of the century, we will feel the impact. What we are blowing us goes, I doubt it, our self-preservation instincts are too strong.
I think that may well happen! Most go through life thinking and planning on getting more of whatever it is they want. As we bring new life into this world and to throw them with our bad thoughts of “I, me, me” it is also made available with our thought process allows for many generations to the world with this negative attitude.
As for technology, it will only get better with each passing day. If we couple our egocentric attitudes with all of this new technology, we are sure that those who begin to use it with ruthless abandon. This is, in fact, ultimately lead to us to destroy ourselves and our planet with the new technology.
We are our own worst enemies!
